About This Course

The WSQ Perform Basic Cleaning Of Washrooms Level 1 course equips cleaning stewards with the skills and competencies necessary to effectively perform basic washroom cleaning tasks in public and commercial premises.

Learners will acquire the essential skills required to clean washrooms in various settings, including airports, offices, shopping centers, and other public or commercial premises. These competencies ensure that cleaning stewards meet the required industry standards, promoting hygiene and safety in high-traffic environments.

This CORE module is mandatory for all cleaning staff under the Progressive Wage Model (PWM).

Regulatory Requirement & Industry Standards

As of 31 December 2022, all cleaning businesses must ensure that their cleaning workforce meets the mandatory training requirements set by the National Environment Agency (NEA):

1️⃣ One Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) module
2️⃣ One CORE cleaning module

📌 Additional Requirement for Class 1 Licence Holders

• Cleaning businesses applying for a Class 1 Licence must ensure their workforce completes at least 3 training modules, including a minimum of 2 CORE modules.

📌 Who Must Be Trained?

• 100% of cleaners must complete training before a new or renewed cleaning business licence is issued.

• This requirement applies to all cleaners, including Singaporeans, Permanent Residents, and foreign workers, regardless of whether they are full-time, part-time, casual, or temporary employees.

• Cleaners employed for less than 3 months at the time of licence application are exempt from this requirement.

⚠️ Non-Compliance Consequences
Cleaning businesses that fail to meet the training requirement may face:
🚫 A financial penalty of up to $5,000
🚫 Suspension or revocation of their cleaning business licence

📌 If a cleaning business does not meet the training requirements at the time of licence renewal, the licence cannot be renewed.

Certificate 🔖

Upon successful completion, learners will receive a WSQ Statement of Attainment (SOA) for Perform Basic Cleaning Of Washrooms (Skill Code: EVS-CGO-1007-1.1).

1. Letter of Attendance (LOA) can be issued by us after course completion, upon request, for your immediate submission to NEA.
2. WSQ SOA will be issued by SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) in 1-2 days after full payment of course fees and course completion.

Validity of Certificate
The certificate does not have an expiry date.

Pre-requisites

• New entrants to the cleaning industry or existing cleaners who have not previously taken this course
• Completion of job orientation covering work roles, responsibilities, and safety practices
• Proficiency in reading, listening, and speaking English (equivalent to Employability Skills System (ESS) Literacy Level 1)
• Numeracy skills equivalent to ESS Numeracy Level 1
• Courseware provided. Please bring a pen and a smartphone for SingPass QR code scanning for attendance.
